Anne’s Christmas Trees — Sustainable Christmas Tree Adoption & Lease

Why cut down millions of trees every year for a few weeks of celebration? At Anne’s Christmas Trees on Van de Weerterheide farm, you lease a healthy, living Christmas tree in a pot with its roots intact. After the holidays you bring the tree back, and we replant it in our growing field.

Essential Care Instructions: Looking After Your Tree Indoors

A living tree in a pot only stays healthy if the root ball stays moist. Central heating and underfloor heating dry out the root ball very quickly:

  • Water regularly: Give at least 0.5 to 1 litre of water every 2 to 3 days (the soil should always feel slightly moist).
  • Keep away from radiators: Never place the tree right next to a radiator that is on, or directly on underfloor heating (use a coaster or cork mat).
  • Deposit condition: Your deposit (statiegeld) is refunded when you return a healthy, viable tree in January.

Our Three Characteristic Tree Varieties

All our trees are grown in a sturdy growing pot, so the roots can carry on growing in open ground as soon as the tree comes back.

Sizes & the Living Root Ball

Which Size Suits Your Home?

We grow three handy sizes:

  • Small (100–125 cm): Ideal for flats, bay windows or a side table. Easy to transport.
  • Medium (125–150 cm): The most popular classic living room size. Richly branched and nice and full.
  • Large (150–175 cm): A generous eye-catcher for high ceilings and spacious living rooms.

Tip: All sizes are measured including the growing pot. Make sure you have enough boot space when you collect your tree.

The Circular Adoption Cycle

This is how adopting and replanting a living Christmas tree works, in four simple steps.

Choose & Collect

Reserve your variety, size and time slot online. Collect your tree at Werkmansweg without waiting.

Care at Home

Keep the tree away from radiators and water it every 2–3 days so the root ball stays moist.

Return in January

Bring the tree back in early January. After a quick root check, you get your deposit back straight away.

Replanting

We plant the tree back in our open ground, where it can grow for another full year.

Frequently Asked Questions about Anne’s Christmas Trees

When can I return the tree in January?

The official return days are the first and second Saturday of January, between 10:00 and 15:00, at the farm in Weert.

What happens if the tree dries out indoors?

If the tree withers beyond recovery because it lacked water or stood too close to a radiator, and the roots die, it can no longer be replanted. In that case the deposit is forfeited. With good watering, the tree stays perfectly healthy.

Can I adopt the same tree again next year?

Yes! Many of our regular customers give their tree a recognisable tag and adopt their ‘own’ tree again the following year, after a growing season in our field.
